In Sikkim you will find 150 species of Mammals, 690 varieties of Butterflies, 4500 types of Flowers, 425 species of Herbal Medicines, 11 types of Oak Trees, 36 kind of Rhododendron Trees,  515 varieties of Orchids, 23 kind of Bamboo Trees here.

Sikkim has 21 Glaciers, 28 Mountains & Hills, 227 Lakes, 13 Herbal Nurseries surrounded. Red Panda is the National Animal and Rhododendron is the National Tree of Sikkim.


Few guidelines by Sikkim Tourism for the Tourists:
1.       Don’t through garbage’s here and there, use dustbins.
2.      Smoking & Chewing of Gutkha is totally prohibited in Sikkim in all the public places.
3.      Sikkim is a Plastic free zone. Don’t use carry bags here.
4.      Don’t use Mobile phones while driving.
5.       Use Public Sanitation.
6.      Don’t through away any waste from your car or vehicles.
7.       Don’t take flowers or leaves from any Garden.
8.      Please travel with proper and valid permits as and when required.

Regarding the Permits for the restricted area in Sikkim:
1.       The permits are generally done by the Local Travel Agents or the Taxi Drivers, prior to the date of Journey. For the permits you need to submit 2 Passport Size Picture and a Valid Photo Identity Card (PAN Card/ Voter ID Card/ Government Employment ID Card).
2.      Don’t take picture all the places in the restricted zones without asking the driver or the Military.
3.      Don’t Smoke here and there. It’s totally banned in Sikkim in all the public places as well as in the restricted zones.
4.      Please carry your ID card along with you while travelling the restricted areas.
5.       These restricted areas are in a really High Altitude, so please carry sufficient woolens and Medicines for emergency purpose. There are no Medical Shops in these zones.
